knock knock no more

When we moved into our house, our doorbell was a little old. And cracked.  One day Molly and Eli were coming over to spend the night and Molly rang the doorbell and it just kept ringing...the button had completely fell apart and gotten wedged into place creating this awful buzzing sound throughout the house.  With a screw driver, I unwedged the pieces but ended up exposing some wires.  Needless to say, it was time for a new doorbell.

Perfect timing! A doorbell had just caught my eye in a magazine, This Old House, (we have a pretty neat 3 generation magazine swap going between my grandma, mom and myself, thanks girls!) but we didn't need one so I moved on.  Now you can imagine how excited I was when our door bell died and I got to get this one! I promise I didn't break it on purpose and I didn't ask Molly to either;)

Restoration Hardware

I placed the order and it arrived in the mail a week later.  The installation should have been easy, just twist the wires around the screws and mount it into the brick...but our wires were so short and Joe accidentally broke them off even shorter.  I refrained from telling him HE DESTOYED IT (inside joke term of endearment from when I spilt water on Joe's laptop in college) and just used my tiny little fingers and some patience, which I don't usually have until Joe runs out of his. After a couple of hours...our doorbell was up and working!  What do you think?
