bless this home

Two weeks after Joe and I moved into our house, we had a bunch of family over for a house blessing party.  It felt so great to host people at OUR house and we had so much fun showing off our new place.

We made the invitations to look like moving boxes and used painters tape to post the message inside.  Our address was pasted on paint chips stuffed inside with the invite.  I ordered the fragile stamp online and ended up with 3 so if anyone wants one....

We decorated with paint chip banners and pennant flags.

Joe and I had a lot of fun collecting wines with 'house' names for the party.  Our favorites were Cul-De-Sac and Kitchen Sink.

We asked everyone to give us the names and numbers of their favorite handymen, you know, just in case;)

Our party favors were dusting cloths wrapped around scouring pads. Simple and inexpensive from Target dollar bins.

As a thank you to our parents for letting us live with them for a whole year, we gave them these picnic baskets full of items we used up at their house, including printer ink, toilet paper, coffee, and laundry detergent, as well as HEB gift cards.

My sister-in-law Elizabeth made the precious sugar cookies with the green front doors to match ours!  They were delicious and all eaten up by the end of the night.  My other sister-in-law Becky and Joe's brother Michael got us the cookie jar with the tag 'Home Sweet Home' as a house warming gift.  So cute and perfect for our dessert table!

My ACTS sister and friend, Cindy Beckwith, gave Joe and I a bottle of Holy Water she collected form the Jordan river when she went to the Holy Land with our church.  We used it to bless our front door along with the prayer we received for our loft in Jacksonville.

The first time our niece Abby came over, we took her upstairs to pick a room for her and Cora to stay in when they come over.  She took this job very seriously and walked around each room with her hands in her pockets.  She finally picked the last room because it, "Had a pretty nice fan," which really meant she liked the crystal dolphin on the pull chain!  It's so precious how she runs up and shows everyone her room.
